The multimedia scarf

Communication Interfaces wich extend our senses

Exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York

The scarf is not only a sober and elegant accessory, but also a communication tool. The configuration of this virtual environment develops along with our activities.

With his long, removable collar, in a variety of colors and materials, the scarf possesses communication interfaces wich extend our senses:

They can be connected at any given moment, via high speed Hertzian transmissions (UMTS), to Internet for sending video mail, videophone communication, listening to music or watching a film. The electronic part is hidden in the lining of the jacket.

is highlighted by the use of simple gesture inspired by everyday movements. These gestures give acces to numerous incorporated functions : lifting the collar positions the loudspeakers at ear level, rolling the scarf around the face and neck places the microphone at mouse level.

A virtual sphere isolates the user from his physical surroundings : “I’m here, but I’m also connected elsewhere !” The functions of wearable communication (electronic inserted in the clothing) are constantly being enriched with new applications for a wider variety of activities : work, leisure, safety, tourism, sports, and daily life.
