It was Telecom R& D staff who had the idea of making up for this deficiency. They started to study the issue. Their quest met with positive echoes. Their community grew quickly.

Partners joined them. The ISIPICA (Institut Supérieur du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et
de l'Agroalimentaire) (Perfume, Cosmetics
and Food Processing Institute) and the
German company, Ruez Technologies.
Close collaboration was developed.
Ideas, concepts, solutions and
techniques were found. Then
prototypesappeared.

Encoded as digital data,
aromas were transformed
into "information packets".. Next,
these "packets" are sent via
the Web, satellites and cable throughout the
world before reaching
your nostrils.

For this, the essences first
of all had to be encoded then
stored, before they could be dif-
fused. Everything had to be
invented and discovered.
An exciting challenge to be taken up.
And the results are there.
The odours are stored in their microcapsules,
preserved prior to
diffusion. Diffusion that is perfectly controlled and organised.

A standard has been created!
A patent has been filed.
