Isabelle, Doan and Bertrand in the South American jungle:
- What I love is being able to create our trip at each moment, exploring a region when it really grabs you, finding yourself in an exciting adventure where you can organize a huge treasure hunt with other Web-surfers.

The Odyssea system was like our magic compass in the middle of the jungle, backed by accurate map-reading and with the possibility to book your hotel or create your own route the way you prefer and like. More than anything else it was PitouPi, an exclusive chat room and newsgroup for exchanges and encounters in the field with other Web-surfer travellers, far away or close to home, who are experiencing or have experienced the same sort of expedition.

More than a tourist guide, Odyssea is a real travel facilitator: connected with the wireless high-flow network, I choose my routes directly on the map safe in the knowledge that my options are constantly being checked for consistency with the personal parameters I set in my PDA (budget, duration…).

When outside the network, we used a fixed-line phone jack for connections. Via Pitoopi we can hook up with the Odyssea community to share information directly using a search engine, instant e-mailing and chat rooms.

The route takes shape depending on the choices you make at different "key locations", which take account of available time, personal preferences, etc. With the "I'm in luck" option, you are into real adventure, headed towards one of the three given locations. Every time you reach your destination, new choices pop up. In the end, I took a unique route, mine

Travelling is also about doing what you want when you want. With Odyssea, I can change my schedule in real time and alter the different stages… interacting with my environment on a permanent basis. With the "Smart Tags", which are sort of virtual Post-Its, I can leave my comments for future Odyssea travellers… which only they can access. This is a sort of "prevailing intelligence".
